I Started With Candles. Then Winter Made Me Think About Staying In.

Founder | Toffee Timeline — Chapter 001

From how a home smells to how a home feels.

I've been thinking about where Toffee goes next. When you're building a small brand, it's easy to get carried away with new products and new categories. But one question kept coming back: just because I can make something, does it mean it belongs in Toffee?

I'd rather explore small, considered collections than add things for the sake of adding them. Then winter got me thinking about the art of staying in.

It started with winter.

Not the picture-perfect version of staying home. The actual version: slow mornings, afternoons when plans change, and evenings when you're happy to have nowhere to be. Sometimes getting your time back feels like the best part of the week. A little funny, a little moody, a little cozy. That's where Stay In began—not as a category, but as a feeling.

What comes after candles?

Candles already fit naturally into those moments. You light one while reading, working, making coffee, or doing nothing at all. But I wondered what else could belong there. Something that stays with you even when the candle isn't lit. Something you pass on an ordinary Tuesday and think, yes, exactly.

I kept coming back to framed wall art. Not because Toffee needed to become an art store, but because it felt like another way to express the same little world. If candles explore how a home smells, maybe art could explore how a home feels.

Three moments in an ordinary day

01 / Morning — Soft Day

Some mornings deserve a softer start. Not a speech about productivity before breakfast. Just a little brightness, playful shapes, and permission to take your time. That became Soft Day.

02 / Somewhere in between — Plans Cancelled

You know when plans get canceled and you reply, “No worries at all,” while quietly celebrating? Suddenly you have your afternoon back. No rushing, no getting ready. I wanted to capture that tiny, slightly guilty happiness. That became Plans Cancelled.

03 / Evening — Here Tonight

By evening, the world has had enough of your attention. Maybe you're making dinner, watching something familiar, or simply sitting with a candle nearby. No special occasion. No need to turn the night into another accomplishment. That became Here Tonight.

Three designs. One little idea.

Each piece needed its own personality: Soft Day bright and optimistic, Plans Cancelled a little mischievous, Here Tonight more settled and intimate. They didn't need to look identical; they needed to feel connected. I also wanted to challenge the idea that cozy always has to mean beige. A home can feel comfortable and still have color.

Why a small capsule?

I'd rather begin with three pieces that mean something than fill a category just to have more products. Winter gave me the reason to start, but slow mornings, canceled plans, and quiet evenings aren't seasonal.

So Stay In is an exploration of everyday moments that make home feel like your own. The first three framed prints are taking shape, and I'm getting ready to share them properly.

Toffee started with candles, and they're still at the heart of what I'm building. I'm just curious about what else belongs in that world.

Stay In by Toffee.
The art of being home.
